Been working on a little side project called RetroStream. It’s a self-hosted server that takes YouTube videos or playlists, converts them into old Windows Media-compatible streams, and lets retro PCs play them directly in Windows Media Player or even Winamp. It supports audio/video playlists, metadata, caching, permanent playlist links, and even passes song info through WMP so MSN/Windows Live Messenger can show what you’re listening to. The plan is to make it fully open source, with a proper Windows XP-style interface, and eventually package it so you can spin it up as a Docker container with basically one click. Still a work in progress, but the core idea already works — modern YouTube in, retro Windows Media out. 😎

📢 A fresh UNALGORA update is live 💚 This release brings together a lot of work focused on making UNALGORA safer, clearer, and more welcoming. What’s new: - UNALGORA is now available in English, Portuguese, Spanish, Arabic, and French, including proper right-to-left support for Arabic. - Guests can choose their language from the landing page, while members can save it in Account settings. A production bug that sent language links to localhost has also been fixed. - Mute and Block controls give people stronger control over who appears in their social space, without weakening Circle moderation or deleting past content. - Private Circle approvals now send notifications, and former members can be invited again when appropriate. - Public posts, profiles, Circles, and localized pages now have cleaner search-engine support, while private content stays private. - Profile owners can decide whether their profile appears in search engines. - Interests, notifications, messages, profiles, settings, and other core areas received broader translation and interface improvements. - The Privacy Policy and Disclaimer are now available in all supported languages and protected against accidental changes. - Unread activity can now appear in the browser tab, making notifications and messages easier to notice. This update isn’t about adding noise. It’s about making UNALGORA feel more dependable, more accessible, and more respectful of the choices people make. Thank you for being here—and please let me know if something doesn’t feel right after the update. People choose people. Algorithms don’t. 💚

The founder sending us updates. What a time to be alive

Hell yeah 😎

📢 Today’s UNALGORA update is a big one: Circles are here. You can now create and join communities built around shared interests, hobbies, and conversations. Circles can be Public or Private. Public Circles can be viewed openly, while Private Circle posts and member details are limited to approved members. Private join requests can be reviewed by Circle Owners, Admins, and Moderators. Circle posts support the familiar UNALGORA experience: text, photos, links, YouTube previews, Likes, comments, editing, notifications, and post history. Circle feeds—and your Home feed—remain strictly chronological. Posts from Circles you join can appear in Home, and each Circle has its own “Show posts from this Circle in Home” control. Turning it off removes that Circle from Home without making you leave. Circles also include: • Dedicated names, descriptions, rules, icons, and cover images • Owner, Admin, Moderator, and Member roles • Member management and protected ownership transfers • Post and comment moderation • Administrative history • Alphabetical and newest-first Circle browsing • Straightforward Circle search without popularity rankings • Mobile, desktop, light-mode, and dark-mode support Messages received an improvement too: while you’re actively viewing a conversation, new messages are checked approximately every eight seconds. Polling pauses when the conversation is hidden and resumes when you return—without adding heavy real-time infrastructure. The Privacy Policy, Disclaimer, feed explanation, and landing page have also been updated to accurately describe Circles and their Public and Private behavior. And the principle behind UNALGORA remains unchanged: Friends and Circles you deliberately choose. No engagement ranking. No popularity scoring. No sponsored reach. No recommendation algorithm deciding what you should see. Thank you for being part of UNALGORA. If you notice anything unexpected after the update, please let me know. People choose people. Algorithms don’t. 💚

📢 UNALGORA Update brings a focused set of reliability and usability improvements. What’s new: - Posts now support the full six-photo limit correctly, with client-side image compression and a new 10 MB limit per photo. - Stronger duplicate-post protection prevents double-clicks, retries, and repeated requests from creating the same post twice. - Notifications are more reliable, use more natural wording, and can now be toggled between “Notify” and “Un-notify” at any time. - Messages refresh automatically through lightweight polling while conversations are active—without heavy real-time infrastructure. - Multi-line biographies now display exactly as written, including line breaks and blank lines. - Find Friends can now discover people through words in their biography while keeping strong username and name matches prioritized. - Profile and cover photo update posts now use a more personal voice: “I just updated my profile picture.” “I just updated my cover photo.” This update stays true to UNALGORA’s goal: a lightweight, private, dependable social platform built around real people and meaningful connections. Thank you for being part of UNALGORA. If you notice anything unexpected after the update, please let me know. People choose people. Algorithms don’t. 💚

📢 UNALGORA Update What’s new: • Public posts now have more descriptive, privacy-safe search and social metadata. • Notification controls now fit more comfortably on mobile. • Commenters can receive updates when others join a conversation on a post. • You can choose “Un-notify” on a comment or your own post without deleting anything. • Notification and message counts now update automatically through lightweight polling, which pauses when the tab is hidden. Privacy and performance remain central: private content stays out of public metadata, post access is rechecked before notifications are shown, and there are still no recommendation algorithms, WebSockets, autoplay, or heavy realtime services. Thank you for being part of UNALGORA. If you notice anything unexpected after the update, please let me know. People choose people. Algorithms don’t. 💚

I also completed a substantial security update: - Stronger protection against unsafe profile links and malicious external requests. - Additional abuse limits for posts, comments, messages, and friend requests. - Improved browser security headers. - Updated framework, authentication, email, image-processing, and supporting dependencies. - A complete production dependency audit with zero known vulnerabilities. UNALGORA’s feed remains chronological. We have not introduced engagement ranking or recommendation algorithms. Thank you for being part of UNALGORA. Good day! great update!

New Features on UNALGORA 🌿 Today we added several new ways to connect and personalize your experience: - Direct messaging: You can now send private text messages to accepted friends. Visit a friend’s profile and select Message, or open Messages from the main navigation. - Profile interests: Add up to 10 interests from Edit Profile → About you. Your selected interests appear on your profile, and you can use them to find people with shared interests. - Find people by interest: Open Find people and select an interest to discover members who have chosen to display that interest. - Optional birth date: Add your birth date from Edit Profile and choose whether it appears publicly. It remains hidden unless you enable Show my birth date on my profile. - Founding member badge: Founding members can now receive a special crown badge displayed beside their username. - Shareable public posts: Posts marked Public can now be viewed outside UNALGORA and discovered through search engines. Choose the Public audience when creating or editing a post. - Clearer former-member history: Activity from deleted accounts is now shown under the neutral name UNALGORA ex user, without exposing deleted profile information. We’ve also updated our Privacy Policy and Disclaimer to explain messaging privacy, content responsibilities, and UNALGORA’s community standards. People choose people. Algorithms don’t. 💚

📢 UNALGORA Update — Account & Email Security Today we completed a major security update for UNALGORA: - New registrations now require a secure email OTP. - Existing members can verify their email without losing account access. - Forgot-password recovery is now available. - Password changes securely end older sessions. - Administrators can send reset emails but cannot view passwords or reset tokens. -Accounts can be temporarily deactivated and later reactivated through login plus email confirmation. - Permanent account deletion now requires explicit email confirmation. - Verification codes and security links are short-lived, single-use, rate-limited, and purpose-specific. - Transactional emails contain no advertising, analytics, or tracking pixels. Existing accounts and content have been preserved. UNALGORA remains lightweight, chronological, and algorithm-free—now with a much stronger account-security foundation. Thank you for building UNALGORA with me.

Today we rolled out a major UNALGORA update focused on usability, transparency, security, and performance. What’s new: - Photo posts with up to six optimized images - Improved profile and cover photo support - Dedicated post pages with editing and revision history - Chronological comments and direct notification links - Safe clickable links and lightweight link previews - Local timestamps based on your device’s timezone - Improved profile layout - Easier profile invitations with clipboard sharing - A simpler optional photo-upload experience - Cloudflare Turnstile protection for login and registration - Privacy Policy and Disclaimer pages - Additional performance, accessibility, and security improvements We also added more automated testing to protect the chronological feed. Likes, comments, photos, previews, and edits still cannot change a post’s position. The principle remains the same: People choose people. Algorithms don’t. Your home feed contains posts from you and your friends, ordered newest to oldest—nothing is ranked, boosted, or recommended. This is still an early beta, and there is much more to build. Thank you for being here and helping shape a calmer, more human social network.
